Voice dictation

Speak a message instead of typing it.

Dictation turns your speech into text in the message box. Nothing is sent until you press send.

Dictate a message

1. Select the microphone button next to the message box. 2. Allow microphone access when your browser asks. 3. Speak. Each take stops automatically after about 3 minutes and the transcript is added to the message box. Tap the microphone again to keep going. 4. Or tap the check to stop early, review the text, then send.

Get cleaner transcripts

- Speak at a normal pace in complete sentences. - Say punctuation aloud when you need it, for example "period" or "new line." - Reduce background noise. Wind and music cause most errors. - Check unusual company names before sending.

For longer stories, record several 3-minute takes back to back, then ask chat to shape them into resume bullets.

If the microphone will not start

- Check that your browser has microphone permission (usually the padlock or settings icon in the address bar). - On a phone, close apps that may hold the microphone, such as a call or voice recorder. - Try a different browser if the button stays greyed out.
