Automations overview

Repeat your hiring and HR workflows without doing them by hand.

An automation is a set of steps that runs on its own. Something happens, such as a new application arriving, and Worklittle does what you told it to do next.

The shape of an automation

Every automation has:

1. One trigger, which is the thing that starts it 2. Steps, which are the actions that follow in order 3. An end, which is where the flow stops

You build this on a canvas, which is a visual board where each step is a card connected by a line.

Two kinds of trigger

| Trigger | Starts when |
| --- | --- |
| Event | Something happens, such as a candidate applying or someone calling in sick |
| Time | A schedule you choose, such as every Monday morning |

You can narrow an event trigger to a specific company, department, job, title, or person so it does not fire for everyone.

For Jobs events, open Automations and use Company to pick your organization (selected by default), other organizations you belong to, popular employers from Worklittle's index, or any company you search. Department and Job filters appear when your own company is selected. Title includes works for every Jobs event. You can also ask Business chat to build the automation - the assistant searches Worklittle's company index for real employers (and will suggest close matches if a name is not listed).

Steps you can add

- Email to send a message - Chat to post a message in Worklittle - Delay to wait before the next step - Share document to send paperwork - A/B test to split people between two paths - Grant org access to give someone access - Text to leave a note on the canvas for your teammates, which never runs

Everyday examples

- A candidate applies, so send a confirmation email and post to the hiring chat - Someone books a sick day, so fill the shift and notify the team - A job is created at your company, so email the hiring team - A role appears at a company you watch, so run a Chat step to summarize it - Every Monday, email managers a summary of open roles - A new hire starts, so share the handbook and the equipment survey
