Application fields and screening

Ask candidates the right questions.

You decide what applicants have to provide, from the basics through to your own screening questions.

What is included by default

Every application starts with name, email, phone, resume, and cover letter. Name, email, and phone always stay. You can drop the resume or cover letter if they are not useful for this role.

Questions you can add

On Post a job, open Questions and choose Add field:

Custom questions

Choose Add field, then Custom question, and pick how it should be answered:

Turn on Required in the question’s ⋯ menu when applicants must answer. That may add an asterisk (*) at the end of the title in the editor as a shortcut - you can delete it, and typing one at the end of a title (then pressing Enter or clicking away) also marks the question required. Applicants see the required marker from the form itself, not as part of your question text.

Screening answers

On a question you can set the ideal answer, and optionally auto reject applicants who do not meet it. Use this sparingly and only for genuine hard requirements, such as a licence the job legally needs. Over-filtering quietly removes people you would have wanted to talk to.

Keep it short

Every extra question loses applicants. A good rule is the basics plus two questions you will genuinely read. Anything else can wait for a screening call.
