Job description editor
Format the posting.
The description editor gives you proper formatting so your posting reads well instead of arriving as a wall of text.
Formatting you can use
- Headings to break the post into sections - Bold and italic for emphasis - Bulleted and numbered lists - Links to your team page or product
The toolbar sits above the editor, and the usual keyboard shortcuts work too.
A structure that works
1. About the role in two or three sentences. 2. What you will do, as four to six bullets. 3. What we are looking for, split into must haves and nice to haves. 4. About the team or the company. 5. Pay and benefits, which lifts response rates noticeably.
Pasting from elsewhere
Pasting from a document usually keeps your headings and lists intact. Give it a quick scan afterwards for stray formatting, especially anything copied out of a PDF.
Writing tips
- Keep it under about 700 words. Long posts lose readers. - Write "you" rather than "the successful candidate". - Cut requirements you would happily waive for a great person, since long lists put good applicants off. - Say whether the role is remote, hybrid, or on-site right up front.
