Create an automation
Build your first workflow on the canvas, step by step.
You do not need to write anything technical. You pick a starting event, then add the steps that follow.
Start a new automation
1. Open Automations in the left sidebar. 2. Select New. 3. On the empty canvas, select the + button. 4. Choose Event or Time as your trigger. 5. Configure the trigger, including any filters such as a company, department, title, or a specific job.
Add steps
1. Select the + below the trigger card. 2. Pick a step such as Email, Chat, Delay, or Share document. 3. Fill in the details for that step, such as the recipient and the message. 4. Repeat for each step you want.
Each new step connects automatically to the one above it. The ghost End marker moves down as the flow grows.
For Jobs triggers, your current organization is selected under Company by default. The dropdown also lists popular employers from Worklittle's index, and you can search any company in the database. Department and Job stay available when your own company is selected.
Save and turn it on
Select Save when the flow looks right. Nothing runs until you save, so you can leave a half-finished automation and come back to it.
Test it by triggering the event yourself, for example by creating or publishing a job on Jobs, or by submitting a test application to your own job posting.
Splitting the path
Use the A/B test step when you want to try two versions of a message. Give each branch a percentage, and the percentages must add up to 100. Each branch then continues with its own steps.
Let the assistant build it
On Automations, select Create with AI to drop a starter prompt into the chat composer already on the page (bottom bar, or sidebar/floating if that is already open). Stay on Automations, edit the prompt, and send. You can also open the automation editor and ask in chat. Review the result and select Save yourself. See Business chat assistant.
Tips
- Start small. One trigger and two steps is a complete, useful automation. - Add a Text note on the canvas explaining why the automation exists. Your future self will thank you. - Filters matter. An unfiltered trigger fires for every job and every department.
