Your dream role field

The Job title field, with several roles and exclusions.

The Job title field in your Settings is where you say what you want next, and it is the single biggest lever on the jobs Worklittle shows and emails you.

Forward looking, not backward looking

Open Settings and find Job title. The hint inside it reads "Add your dream job". That wording is deliberate. Put the role you want to be hired into, not the one on your business card.

If you are a support specialist aiming to move into product, write "Product Manager", not "Support Specialist".

Your real work history is separate and comes from your resume, so employers still see what you have actually done. Pointing this field at your goal costs you nothing.

You can list more than one role

Separate titles with commas and we look for jobs matching any of them:

Software Engineer, Product Manager

This is the right move when you are genuinely open to two or three paths. It is not the place to list ten loosely related things, because everything you add widens what you see.

Rule things out with a minus sign

Put a minus in front of a word and any job title containing it is left out:

Software Engineer, Product Manager, -Senior

That says: show me software engineering and product roles, but nothing senior. The common shorthands are handled for you, so -Senior also catches "Sr." and "Sr".

Exclusions are the quickest fix when your results are consistently one level off, in either direction.

In chat, the same leading-minus pattern works for employers when you say you do not want a company (or a group of them). The assistant puts those in the company filter as slugs such as -lucid-motors, not in this Job title field.

Room to work with

The field holds around 200 characters, which is plenty for several titles plus a couple of exclusions. Keep it readable rather than cramming it, since a shorter honest list beats a long one.

What it drives

- The roles in your job alert emails. See Instant job alerts. - The jobs you see while you swipe to apply. - The framing chat uses when you ask for advice on your search.

One thing it does not control is where. There is no location box in Settings. Nearby search uses your device location when it is already allowed, otherwise an approximate network location (no permission prompt). To grant or refresh precise location, use current location on Maps.
